10 Action Anime to Binge Watch

Hello, I am starting a series where I will pick a genre each week and give 10 anime that are less than 30 episodes. I enjoy binge watching and there are plenty of short anime that can fulfill that need. This week I am providing 10 action anime!

  1. Akame Ga Kill (24 episodes)

The story follows Tatsumi, a villager, and his actions with a revolutionary army known as Night Raid. Night raid is made of assassins that each possess Imperial Arms. Each Imperial Arm is different, and it is exciting to see what each person’s will be. This show hooked me immediately and it provides more than action.

2. Black Lagoon (24 episodes)

This is one of my personal favorites! Rock Okajima joins a group of mercenaries, after they kidnap him during a smuggling operation. Watch as he tries to use diplomacy in the mercenary world, without dying. Revy is also one of the best/badass female characters ever!

3. Gangsta. (12 episodes)

A recent show that premiered last summer, Gangsta. proved to be worth the attention. Follow two handymen while they take on the dirty jobs that the mob and police refuse to do. I enjoyed how they worked Worick and Nic’s background story into the show. The “Twilights” also provide some solid story development and action, obviously.

4. Blood Blockade Battlefront (12 episodes)

Join Leonardo Watch and Libra in Hellsalem’s Lot! The people that make up Libra possess blood battle styles, while Leonardo possesses the “Eyes of God”. These people have to prevent the monsters from getting out of Hellsalem’s Lot.

5. Kill la Kill (24 episodes)

This is a popular anime, so I am sure you have watched it, but it’s definitely worth a binge watch. If you have not watched this, what rock are you living under? This show contains epic fights and Goku Uniforms, which just sound cool! Ryuko Matoi fights with a scissor blade and the Student Council fights with only the uniforms on, which is insane. This anime also has a battle royal and a raid. This series screams ACTION!

6. One-Punch Man (12 episodes + 6 OVAs)

Another recent, popular anime that has OVAs still being released each month (Last one airs May 27th). Saitama is a superhero that can defeat his opponents with one punch. Although the fights can be finished with one hit, there are plenty of other superheroes that provide more action.

7. Samurai Champloo (26 episodes)

An acclaimed anime from ’04-’05, this anime provides the perfect balance of action and comedy. Fuu enlists the help of Mugen and Jin to find “the samurai that smells of sunflowers”. They experience many upsets and adventures along the way. It also has the best soundtrack I have ever listened to!

8. Cowboy Bebop (26 episodes)

Another acclaimed anime from the late ’90’s, Cowboy Bebop is about an eclectic group of bounty hunters and their unlucky adventures. Each member brings their own problems and strengths to the table. I also really enjoy watching Spike fight!

9. Guilty Crown (22 episodes)

This was a recent watch for me, and I have no idea why! This show is packed with action and will pull you in immediately. Shu Ouma joins Funeral Parlor to fight against the GHQ, but it quickly progresses into so much more. I wanted this anime to be longer, because I didn’t want to stop watching.

10. Hellsing (13 episodes + 10 OVAs)

Alucard and Seras Victoria take on vampires, in order to keep peace in London. Alucard is such a diverse character, due to his circumstances. The way he speaks to people is also great to listen to. This is by far my favorite vampire anime and the action involved is awesome and bloody!
